Spring Has Sprung on Orcas

Okay, our last post was in January and we said 2025 here we come...but we manifested a little TOO hard! February was a little wild, but wonderful. We had our annual owners' meeting here at the Landmark, Alyce's birthday, Valentine's Day (and all that came along with that as a family AND as innkeepers!), our wedding anniversary and then a visitor from our hometown! So all in all, a great month.

But now here we are in March and spring has SPRUNG here on Orcas. Granted, that doesn't mean sunshine everyday like it may in some other places, but our rain showers mean those gorgeous spring flowers are already popping out and giving us some beautiful colors to go with all of our green. We've got our assistant innkeeper out on cleanups, but as you can imagine, it is going a little slowly...

Spring also means BABIES here on Orcas at all of our amazing farms! Check out our friend Tiny Tim as we get to give him his afternoon bottle. This may have been more exciting for me than kiddo, but I'll never tell.

Tiny Tim is at Lum Farm, where you can take self guided farm walks (or go for baby time on Saturdays in March!), hit up their farmstand for amazing goat cheese or goat milk caramel, or check out some of their adorable merchandise.

We also swung by our friend Carol's at Little Farm on Olga Road, to take a peek at her flower farm and also grab some of her brand new venture! Carol has rolled out all natural tallow balms, infused with all of the herbals from her farm! We got the rosemary balm and can't stop sniffing it.

Whale watches have also started back up, our friends at Deer Harbor Charters have been taking folks out and we keep telling ourselves THIS is the year we are doing on of their tours to the outer islands!

It is also the perfect time to visit Moran, with sunny days but small crowds. We have already seen some otters, eagles and all of the water fowl. Moran is also home to our favorite toddler friendly playground on island!

What is YOUR favorite spring activitiy on island?
