Not your typical Orcas Island hotel experience.

Here at The Landmark on Orcas Island, we’re all about the Orcas Island Experience. Relax in one of our fifteen unique, individually owned and appointed condominiums.

DETAILS

Each unit boasts a fully outfitted kitchen, an open living and dining room, comfortably sized bedrooms, updated baths, and views of beautiful Orcas Island. The condos are all situated around a lovely tree-canopied courtyard, well landscaped and beautiful in every season. The Landmark is unique compared to other Orcas Island lodging, as each unit is privately owned, and varies slightly from one unit to the next. This benefit is also paired with the convenience of a more typical hotel, with daily housekeeping services, an on-sight manager, and more.

Our onsite manager is available to help you with questions about the Island or your accommodations . Whether you want suggestions for fun things to do on Orcas Island, what Orcas Island restaurants are best suited for your dining style, or what the Orcas Island ferry schedule is for the coming weekend, our staff is here to help! As you are looking to book your room, we'd love to talk with you about which unit fits your needs best, as well as answer any additional questions you may have!

SEE & DO

THINGS TO DO & SEE ON ORCAS

Our island, a green paradise, referred to by locals as “the emerald isle” and “the gem of the San Juans” — a mélange of stunning shoreline, the highest mountain in the islands, and charming hamlets. Orcas Island is a diverse playground. Whether you desire to fill your days with paddling, hiking of all levels, biking, and whale watching, stroll through town with your loved ones, or simply read a book on a beach with the water lapping at your feet, Orcas Island is the place for you. No matter where on Orcas you roam, a spirit of natural wildness will greet you. The 57 square miles of island are hilly and rural, so roll your windows down, turn up the music, and take a drive, breathing in the salty air, breathing out your worries, and simply enjoying the wonder of this place.

A YEAR ROUND PLAYGROUND

Whether summer, winter, or the seasons in-between, Orcas always has adventures and activities to offer. During the summer, Orcas Island whale watching is a crowd pleasing activity. Kayaking Orcas Island is another adventure filled activity during the warmer months. Hiking, biking, swimming, beach combing, and sailing activities are plentiful here. Here on Orcas, we boast the highest mountain in all the San Juans, Mount Constitution, and from here, there are spectacular views of the sea and snow-capped Mount Baker in the distance. Needless to say, if activities and adventures are what you are looking for, you have no need to look any farther than Orcas Island!

Arts, culture, wine, or beer more your thing? Don't worry, we've got those too! The Orcas Island farmer's market takes place right down the street from the Landmark every Saturday from May-November. This is a great opportunity to meander the stalls, sample some amazing food, and purchase some farm-fresh items that you are able to bring back to your Landmark unit and cook into

a delicious meal in the full kitchen!

But, what about the other seasons? Are there year round things to do on Orcas Island? You bet! Orcas is well known for a thriving art scene, food farms, artisan producers, outdoor adventures, and a quaint downtown. In the cooler months, these opportunities still abound, but without crowds. When you come to Orcas in the off season, you'll experience a slightly different side of the island. Relaxed, refreshing, quiet ... a breath of fresh air. Come walk through downtown Eastsound and explore the quaint shops, talk to the owners, hear their stories. Take your pick of seating in the bay side restaurants while enjoying a glass of your favorite wine. Read a book at Darvill's bookstore, sipping a cup of delicious coffee, while watching a winter storm roll across the bay. Hiking and biking are still popular activities in the cooler months as well. In fact, from October-May, Mt. Constitution is considered by some to be the 'best mountain biking in the state!' Because the San Juan islands are typically more dry than the rest of Washington, the trails here provide some great winter mountain biking (and hiking!) opportunities.

So, what are you waiting for? Interested in more specific information about any of the activities listed above? Continue on to our "Things to Do on Orcas Island" page for more information, as well as helpful links!

FAQs

How Do I Get to Orcas?

Getting to Orcas is an adventure in itself, and quite the beautiful ride! Most people take the ferry, but a chartered plane is also an option to get here in style. We suggest getting reservations for the ferry before your trip to avoid unnecessary stress and wait. See our Getting Here page for more specific information and step by step directions on how to get to The Landmark once you arrive on Orcas.

Can I See Orca Whales while I'm visiting Orcas Island?

It is possible! These majestic creatures (along with a myriad of other marine dwelling animals, including bald eagles, other whales, seals, and sea lions), are seen often swimming in the waters surrounding the San Juan Islands. Taking a whale watching tour of the San Juans is a great way to have a better chance of seeing an Orca whale during your trip. But you never know... you might be a lucky one who looks out their window and sees one swimming in Fishing Bay!

Do You Have Suggestions of Great Places to Eat While We are in Town?

In a short answer, yes! There's many great options for restaurants on Orcas, including an awesome coffee house and bakery down the street, a brewery, winery, a pub (with karaoke and trivia!), along with waterfront restaurants. We'd love to point you in the right direction based on whatever atmosphere you are looking for, so feel free to give us a call or come down to the office and chat whenever you get here.

What are some things to do on Orcas Island?

From arts to breweries, hiking to whale watching, Orcas Island has a vast assortment of activities, shops, trails, and adventures to fill your time here! A great resource for activities, restaurants, shop hours, or to book bikes/kayaks/whale watching tours, is the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce Site - visit them here
